Don’t Exaggerate

Why exaggerate ? ? ?

Why not just be content with the middle of the road.

No one ever believes your laments of melancholy misery

or your over emoted spasms of ecstatic exuberance

anyhow.

Yes, we do those things to elicit sympathy or

to have other people leave us alone.

Today, be happy, don’t exaggerate,

tell the truth about how you feel.

Happiness is never having to exaggerate.

Happiness is helping someone help themselves.

Your Desires

I want and I want,

but I am the happiest when I am grateful

for what I have.

Expectations are resentments

waiting to be hatched.

Expecting all of your desires to be satisfied

is a pie in the sky smoke dream,

usually blow away by the first passing breeze.

Today, don’t dream, be kind and loving

and enjoy the breeze and the happiness

that rides in on it.

Happiness is limiting your desires.

Happiness is helping someone help themselves.
